any advice for my fire elem?
flare
phoenix
meteor
fireball
immolate
incendiary bonds - thinking of replacing this with one of the rodgort spells?
elemental attune
aura of restoration or res
15 fire, 13 energy
This build, at least for now, is strictly a pve build (if i play pvp, i still have my air wand, etc). I like the spells because they seem to have an AoE effect, without using fire storm or meteor shower, only one exhaust spell, and energy management seems to be fine. Any ideas/ suggestions? If it sucks, feel free to tell me lol.

for your build, replace pheonix with rez sig/rebirth/ressurect depending on the situation, replace bonds with Rogdorts invocation (the firball esque spell that causes burning)
spam immolate and flare. use fireball and meteor only if targets group up. rodgort's should be what you open up with.
its a basic fire build, but you cant get very fancy with fire.
now my more personal advice to you, from one ele to another, is give up and change profession. In most situations, a ranger will out do you in pure damage potential and longevity. A necro gets better AoE out of Spiteful spirit, and the elemental resistances rarely come into play.
Elementalist is Anets bastard child.

thanks for your advice, i'll change those up and check it out. I kinda like my fire elem. I started out fire, then moved to air, and now i'm back to fire, partly because i don't really like pvp, and also partly because i think air is overrated. the 'on fire' condition can be pretty devastating, and some of those spells worked nicely even in pvp. air elementalists can take out a warrior pretty damn easily, between blinding/weaknessing them and the armor penetration. i was hoping we'd get some nice spells with the chapter 2, but so far it really doesnt look like it. thanks for your advice!

You don't want Flare and Phoenix in anything. I wouldn't suggest Incendiary Bonds either.
EDIT: Well, fine, you don't want Flare in PvP, you don't want Phoenix in anything but Solo-Farming, and Incendiary Bonds is just that bit Energy-high. You DO have Elemental Attunement covered, so no worries...not much anyways.

phoenix, hmm for some reason i always liked that spell, i guess its not as popular or good as i thought. incendiary bonds isn't energy high, i think its only 15 energy...however i am going to replace that with invocation, as warcheif had suggested.
i was also considering the one that, i think its like "for 20 seconds, whenever target gets hit with fire, he goes on fire for 4 seconds"...seems to be an easy way to kill one target, unless he has a hex remover...what are your thoughts on that spell?
last question - any useful fire spells in ch 2?

Lava Arrows seems like it might be useful. its like a tripple flare kinda thing (hitting 3 target, not one target 3 times)
Other than that, nothing useful. Burning Speed is funny though... :P

Mark of Rodgort, I like that one, I just keep wanding for a constant -7 degen and no energy loss if im low on energy or use any other fire skills if im not. I usually use it with Conjure Flame.

Fire Attunement is nice too.
The exact choice of spells depends on the environment. Flare is less efficient, especially with attunements, than other spells, but if you want to maximize damage against a single boss it's not bad. Mark of Rodgort depends greatly on whether they'll have hex stripping (Incendiary Bonds is even affected by that a little). Do you need to make room for self-healing/condition removal/hex removal/anti-interrupt?
Lots of possibilities.

pheonix is only useful at melee range.
meteor shower is only good if you have multiple targets all bunched up
flare is meh sometimes its handy
fireball is a mainstay of pretty much any pyro build
get rid of immolate.. makes them scatter
swap bonds for rodgorts invocation
elemental attunement is good
aura is good too

If you plan on PvE, go with firestorm to break up enemy groups. On some missions it'll help a ton.
Cooper, sometimes you want them to scatter.

Why would Immolate make them scatter? It targets one monster, and sets it on fire. Why would it run?

phoenix i took out, flare can be handy....i put rodgorts in, right now i put it in for phoenix, bonds seemed good for getting rid of a single target but...did the 'on fire' condition get nerfed? I used to think it did a lot more damage than it does now. Immolate I really like, and doesn't make them scatter lol...and I have meteor, not meteor shower in...thanks for your help

Tough to think of enough good examples to make it worth carrying.
And if you're solo farming and want to cause that effect, Lava Font is better.

Personally, I just dont take flare. Not worth it. Immolates my favourite, no line of sight, great for the start of a battle (inPvE). No ones mentioned Mind Burn...

You will of course want to make sure you aren't partied with a Necro that just echo'd SS and is currently hitting that entire group for 43 dmg/second. Because then Firestorm would really tick someone off...
(not that you would do that, or that anyone would do that... other than the ele in my RoF group last night. Sooooo frustrating)

Reasons to take Flare:
1. You're taking Mark of Rodgort
2. You're taking Ether Renewal
3. You're in a low/mid-level area where Flare is more efficient than Immolate
That's about it ...
Reasons for taking Mind Burn:
1. You find the game so easy you want to deliberately handicap yourself by taking a terrible elite.
That's definitely it.
